Insanity – Round 1 – Day 36

Insanity – Round 1 – Day 36: Fit Test; Max Interval Circuit

Bad blogger…. I missed a whole week of blogging and created lesson plans/class materials instead. I am teaching my first class on Saturday and all of my free time goes to that and school.

I do, however, make it a priority to squeeze my workouts in every day. So, recovery week was fairly easy. It was very slow-paced and Shaun T spent a lot of the time talking. It got to be way too easy by the end of the week.

THEN… It hit me like a ton of bricks: Max Interval Circuit. It was a whole hour. Advanced moves in the first month, made an appearance in the warm up. The whole hour was a combination of moves that kicked my butt. The good news is that I am a little sore and was sweating like crazy by the time I was done.

I am going back to a low protein diet and hoping to shed that last bit of body fat. I am around 9.5% and 168 lbs. I definitely gained some new muscle in the first month, and saw a quick decrease in body fat at the beginning. I have found that it is getting a lot harder to lose body fat as it gets low. I have even been eating at 40%, 40%, 20%. Wish me luck.

  1. Man he really kicks it up in month 2…. these are DEFINITELY more intense… My glutes are sore from max circuit and then max plyo today COMPLETELY destroyed my chest…. I agree with you, I’m seeing some really good fat loss but still have a ways to go… Thinking I might even do a 2nd round of this craziness…. Take care

    • This is absolutely nuts! Max Plyo Intervals was crazy. Month two is truly insane…. I did my best, but there are a lot of new moves to learn with good form. I am really scared of tomorrow’s cardio workout. 40 minutes of pure cardio?

  2. Haven’t heard from you in a while. How’s it going?
I’ve finished my first round of Insanity and am on week 3 of my second round.
Results were amazing! I can’t believe all the complements I’ve gotten. After one round of P90X and about 12 weeks of Insanity, I’ve lost a total of 47 lbs!
I’m a mountain biker, and since twisting my ankle in the spring, I stayed off the bike this summer and focused just on staying healthy enough to do my workouts. I hit the trails a couple times recently, and the difference is unbelievable! I feel like I fly up the climbs and have energy to do multiple laps.
Anyways, I hope all is going well for you and you are having great results!
    Take care.

    • Hi Austin,

Congrats man! You got some great results! Keep it up.

I finished round one of Insanity on October 10, 2010. Made it down to 160 lbs. and 8% body fat. I was pleased. I haven’t had much time to post this semester due to class, work, and my new teaching schedule. Life is busy! Excersise has been my daily therapy. I am going to finish this blog with results from Insanity, and I am thinking about adding an author to keep it going. I really don’t have time to post anymore. If you are interested in becoming an author, let me know.

For now, I am still going strong. Just started a bulk round of P90X on Monday. It looks like this:

      M: Chest and Back
      T: ARX and Cardio Abs
      W: Shoulders and Arms
      TR: ARX and Cardio Abs
      F: Legs and Back
      Sa: Yoga X
      Su: Rest

I am eating around 4,500 calories a day by adding weight gainer shakes to my regular diet. I will be doing this for a month, then going straight into a P90X/Insanity Hybrid with a fat shredder diet. Now that I have completed both programs, I feel comfortable creating new schedules/diets to accomodate my goals. It is pretty cool, but I will worn you that my muscles feel like they did during week 1, round 1 of P90X. Going from Insanity to P90X made me relive DOMS. However, I am able to do a hell of a lot more push ups.

  3. Congrats on finishing Pete…. I threw in an extra week of Insanity to make up for a bad week I had in month 2…. If you don’t have the Max Sports you need to get it…. It’s the HARDEST max workout…. I have spent this week doing some chest and back and shoulders and arms workouts from the new P90X One on One program and I am right there with you, SORE all over again… I did insanity cardio circuit from month 1 today and the jumping jacks KILLED me LOL…. Good luck with your “bulking” I’m still trying to cut down some more, have some pesky belly fat that won’t let go
