Round Two – Day 46: Physical Therapy, Ab Ripper X Doubles, 45 minute run
So… after a free 30 minute check up, the physical therapist came to the conclusion that I have a tight I.T. band. Don’t ask me what that stands for, but it is a muscle that runs down the side of the thigh and connects to a bone on side side of the knee. It is getting irritated as I run and pulls on the bone, causing pain in my knees…. Ouch! The remedy is to ice both knees immediately after the run, stretch the gluteus REALLY good, and massage the IT band using a styrofoam cylinder. As my muscles get stronger, the problem should dissipate.
I got home a little late so I wasn’t able to get my back and biceps in. Instead, I did ab ripper twice and went for a 45 minute run. It all worked out and finding a solution to my knee problem was worth it. Since next week is rest week, I can switch up my schedule a little bit in order to fit in both resistance workouts. Not a bad deal..
Tip of the day: Seek professional help if you are feeling serious pain. It is not worth suffering through the pain when there are measures that you can take to alleviate pain.
