Round Two – Day 37: Resisting Temptation

Round Two – Day 37: Plyometrics

Plyometrics felt like a warm up after the pain I felt from running last week. Luckily it was raining this evening, otherwise, I probably would have given into temptation and took off for a quick run. Since I am just starting off, I should really only be running every other day. That is hard because I am really excited about my new hobby. It gets into your blood quick.  You really feel refreshed after each run and know that the body fat is melting away.

Diet went well today.

Tip of the day: If you decide to start running with P90X, I would recommend starting after day 30. Give your body some time to adjust to your knew 7-day per week training schedule. The program itself is a lot to handle and part of mastering P90X, is learning patience. Good things come in time. Listen to your body and keep pushing yourself; just don’t push yourself into an injury.

  1. Question: What kind of tool are you using to measure your body fat percentage? Where did you get it and what was the cost?

    • Hi John,

I have been using the Omron HBF-306C Fat Loss Monitor, Black, purchased on for about $34.00. It seems to be fairly accurate as long as you using it properly. Here are a few tips:
      1. Hold your arms out straight like you are driving a car, every time you test.
      2. Test your body-fat before you workout. Post-workout test results will not be accurate.
      3. Make sure to adjust the user profile settings as you lose weight.

  2. Thanks for the recommendation Pete. It looks promising. You say it seems fairly accurate but how can you tell? Anyway, I’ll more than likely order one.

    • Hi John,

I have the plastic calipers as well, and it seems to match up. The only accurate measurement of body fat is done through water displacement tests. Since it is not very economical to have one in your home, I feel like the handheld electric measuring devices are the next best thing.

To be honest the number doesn’t really matter. Don’t focus on what BF % you are, just be consistent in measuring and focus on the change in body fat over 90 days. The goal is change.
